BUTTERMILK ROLLS

1 pkg. yeast

1/4 c. lukewarm water

1 c. buttermilk

1/4 c. shortening

1/2 t. soda

4 c. flour

1/4 c. sugar

1 t. salt

1 egg

Dissolve yeast in lukewarm water.  Heat buttermilk to lukewarm and add shortening.  Beat egg and add to mixture.  Fold in flour and knead about 5 minutes.  Put in a greased bowl.  Cover and set in a warm place.  Let rise 1 hour.  Make out rolls and let rise 1 hour.  Bake at 350 degrees.
